QA Testing: (Quality Assurance by Quality Consultants)

QA-qraphic

3T has prepared a testing methodology and developed a set of utilities to perform client/server GUI and database benchmark testing. The following represents an IS testing project requirements and key objectives

The principal purpose of a QA project is to design the methodology and perform the appropriate tests allowing IS and management to receive performance benchmark results for any business unit they chose to emulate.

The proposed solution should satisfy the IS requirements by delivering an answer to the following questions:

  • Is the selected NT server hardware properly set up and does it have a sufficient performance rating to sustain the work load likely to exist at the location (based on workflow analyses, see note). Performance degradation should be shown as a function of the user count for selected hardware set and fixed workflow model. Multiple hardware sets could be tested (RAM size, RAID, Brand, etc.) .
  • Is the C/S software able to sustain the work load likely to exist at the location. Will it support the expected average transaction load to be processed.
  • by the given number of employees. The performance degradation should be shown as a function of the user count within a fixed hardware set and predetermined data base size.
  • Are there any instances in the application software that may cause the user to experience annoying response delays. A trigger should be set for maximum response time between user action and system response.
  • Are there any database bugs or inconsistencies in the application software that may cause an invalid flow in the database responses?

SQLU Overview:
The SQL Benchmark driver has been designed to proof any relational database design concept and test real life performance in multi-user environment.

  • SQLU utilities allow the user to emulate real life data entry processes and generate thousands of entry records without using the tested application.
  • Unlike other application testers SQLU is not "pushing" the keys emulating the user but uses unique method that replaces tested application entirely retaining database calls only. In fact SQLU may test future database design and performance even before first GUI interface is designed. The SQLU connectivity with the database supports DBLIB and ODBC interfaces allowing tests to be performed on a variety of database engines. SQLU employs the latest software technology based on object oriented 32 bit SOA design using Microsoft latest compiler Visual++ ver 6.0 (or greater).

  • SQLU with built-in inter-task communication module and multi threaded database access allows SQLUclient, SQLUServer and SQLUagent to launch its testing engine simultaneously across the multiple NT workstations and servers as long they are connected via LAN.  All SQLU system components-objects communicate with each other using powerful TCP/IP protocol allowing the user to deploy multiple SQLUservers and SQLUAgents across the enterprise network.   By launching testing processes from any LAN / WAN location even from simple Windows workstation (with optional 64 bit SQLUclient).
